OUR STORY
3 generations watching over the current one
1850
Césaire Brun and Théophile Charavin
Helen Durand’s great-great-grandfather (the estate’s current owner), Césaire Brun, already owned part of the estate in 1850. It was her second great-great-grandfather, Théophile Charavin, who owned the other part. This makes the estate a family-owned property that has been in the family for four generations.
1950
René Charavin
It was in 1942 that the two families became one with the marriage of Henriette Brun and René Charavin, Helen Durand’s grandparents.
In 1950, René built the winery and named the estate Trapadis.
1973
Michèle Charavin and Robert Durand
Michèle Charavin married Robert Durand and later gave birth to Helen. She would go on to establish the estate as a benchmark among the renowned wineries of the Rhône Valley.
Depuis 1990
Helen Durand
In 1990, at the age of 16, Helen Durand recognized the full potential of the family’s land and produced her first bottling.
Starting in 1997, this family legacy, once bottled, will be enjoyed by wine lovers across the globe.
En 2017, c’est la cave de vinification et du stockage des bouteilles d’origine qui ont été agrandis, un évènement hautement symbolique.
Trapadis
Trapadis is a derivative of the word “hole” in Provençal. This hole leads to an underground tunnel in the Grenache vineyard next to the winery (hence the name “Trapadis” for this vineyard), where the spring that supplies water to the homes in the hamlet originates.
History continues to be written every day, thanks to each and every one of you…
